The New Apple TV Adds Apps, Siri, Touch for Your Viewing Pleasure

Watching television used to be as simple as turning on a giant box and choosing from a very limited selection of networks and shows. Fast forward several decades with the introduction of Cable and our choices grew by leaps and bounds. Now today, Apple TV aims to change the way we view television again with the introduction of its all new Apple TV and tvOS that offer a highly personalized viewing experience.
This is not your father’s TV, folks.

Apple TV takes the phase “there’s an app for that” to heart by giving viewers access via apps to entertainment from an ever growing selection of content providers. Users can rent and purchase streaming movies and TV shows in 1080p right through the App Store. The set top box comes equipped with apps like Netflix, Hulu Plus, and ESPN, giving access to everything you want to watch at anytime.
In addition to accessing video content, AirPlay enables users to stream content from other Apple devices directly to their TV. If you want to show your guests photos from your recent vacation, simply tap the Airplay button on any of your devices to wirelessly stream content to your TV.

If games are your thing, there’s an app for that, too. Just download your favorites and start playing on 50 inches of high resolution screen, or whatever size TV you have at home.

And it’s all available without the need for a cable or satellite subscription.

Another game changer is the voice activated Siri Remote. Want to find a cooking show that teaches you how to make the perfect pesto pasta sauce? Just ask Siri and she’ll find some options for you. The remote also features a new touch sensitive surface that responds just like your phone enabling you to scroll and make selections with your thumb. The remote also serves as your game controller for all those game apps available for download.

The new Apple TV and tvOS with Siri remote is expected to be available later this month starting at $149. For more information on Apple TV and for all your Apple needs, contact us at support@cranstonIT.com.
