iOS 7 releases September 18th

The release of iOS 7 is finally almost here. Apple’s new operating system for your mobile devices, such as iPhone or iPad, will be available for download on September 18th. iOS 7 is chocked full of exciting new features, some of which we already highlighted in a previous article that you can read here.

The camera app in iOS 7 makes taking pictures even more intuitive. You can shoot stills, video, slow-mo, panorama, and square, switching between these different options with just one swipe, so you’ll always be ready to capture a moment. Now you can take a still shot while recording a video to take advantage of both options in a can’t miss moment. There’s also a new filter features that allow you to add filters to your photos. You can either shoot using filters or add them later. The new camera app is sure to add even more beauty to all of your photos and videos.
Air Drop is a feature that used to be available only on desktops and laptops, but with iOS 7 the much loved feature makes its way to your iPhone and iPad. Instead of sharing a photo or video with the friend standing next to you via email or iMessage, use Air Drop. Air Drop uses Wi-Fi and Bluetooth to send anything from pictures to contacts with just one tap. Just tap the share option, select the person that you wish to share with and then let iOS 7 do the rest.

In this latest iOS, Siri gets a facelift, or should we say voice lift. New, more natural voices and options of male or female voices make Siri sound better than ever. Not only does Siri sound great, but with more sources like, Wikipedia, Twitter, and Bing, it’s also smarter. So go ahead and impress your friends with your new knowledge, we won’t tell.

Starting September 18th, your phone will automatically alert you that the upgrade is available. All iPhones version 4 and newer and iPads version 2 and newer will be able to upgrade. While the wait has already been excruciating, we recommend that you wait one or two days to upgrade to ensure that all major bugs have been worked out. If you have an iPhone 4, you may want to postpone upgrading even longer to see how older phones respond to the upgrade.
