Working with Full Screen Apps in Mac OS Lion

The OS X Lion operating system gives you an option to work in full-screen with most applications.  This is useful when you need to focus on one task without distraction.

To get to full-screen mode, click on the double-ended arrow in the upper right corner of your screen.  That app will then fill your entire screen so that's all that you will see.
The menu bar and dock will even be hidden.   If you need it, you can see the menu bar by moving your cursor to the top of the screen.  Viewing the dock takes an extra step.  Move your cursor to the bottom of the screen, stop for a second, and then continue to move you cursor down.  The reason for this extra stop?  So you don't accidentally open the dock every time you reach the bottom of your work.

When you want to jump to another full-screen app, a three-fingered upward swipe on your trackpad or a click on the icon in your dock will take you to Mission Control.  From there you can click on any other open app. You can completely exit full-screen mode at any time using the Esc key on your keyboard.

The apps that are full-screen enabled in the most current version of OS X Lion include Keynote, Pages, Numbers, iPhoto, iMovie, GarageBand, Safari, Mail, iCal, Preview, DVD Player, QuickTime Player, and Photo Booth.
