The overwhelming amount of logistics is often made even more complicated when you need to share your trip plans with friends and family. TripIt is a free service that takes all of your travel plans, cuts out the useless information, and compiles them in to a simple, easy-to-read itinerary that you can share with anyone who needs to know your plans.
When planning a trip, you receive countless emails with confirmations and logistical information that clogs up your inbox and has you scrambling to find the right confirmation when you need it. TripIt simplifies the whole process by syncing with your email and catching emails that pertain to a trip which then get added to the itinerary. The TripIt itinerary has all of the information that you need, such as flights, hotel reservations, movie tickets, and dinner reservations, all in sequential order. If TripIt happens to miss an email, just go ahead and manually forward the email to plans@tripit.com. Details can also be manually entered into the itinerary. When you view your TripIt itinerary, useful features such as local weather, maps, and directions to and from different locations will display. Traveling with someone? You can add your travel companion's information to your itinerary. If you download the TripIt app, you don’t have to be online to view your itinerary or make changes, a feature that is especially handy for international travel.
While TripIt is a free service, they also offer a Pro account. TripIt Pro is $49 a year and gives subscribers access to several useful features. Pro users are alerted the minute any of their flight information changes and if a flight is delayed or cancelled, TripIt finds available flights and seats. If you have a seat preference, TripIt searches flights for it or keeps searching for one, alerting you the minute it becomes available. Pro members can also add all of their reward points information into TripIt Pro and keep track of points in one convenient location. TripIt also uses reward points information to check and see when you’re eligible for a refund.
