MacBook Pro 2016 Features Touch Technology

The new MacBook Pro 2016 is lighter, brighter, faster and more fun than previous Mac notebooks. Naturally, all those upgrades come at a cost. If you’re in the market for a high-end laptop, and don’t mind spending up for one, the MacBook Pro might be for you.

The most exciting of this laptop’s interesting and innovative features is the new Touch Bar that has replaced the function keys at the top of the keyboard. This adaptive strip of glass will automatically change based on what you’re doing and what app you’re using. For instance, while in Contacts, the Touch Bar will display actions for the contact card you’re currently viewing in the main app such as shortcuts to call, FaceTime or iMessage that person. While in Safari, you’ll see forward and back keys and an address/search button. Currently, not all apps are Touch Bar ready, but more are being added as developers adopt the technology.

The Touch Bar has three sections – the control strip on the right for media controls, brightness, volume, and similar settings; the center section for apps; and the left section that features an escape and a “Done” key. You can add or delete control buttons simply by dragging them to/from your screen to the control strip and make adjustments to individual settings by tapping and sliding.

Accompanying the Touch Bar is Touch ID that gives you instant login access and also enables you to make fast and secure online purchases with Apple Pay. Touch ID eliminates the need to remember myriad passwords when paired with a third-party password app – a real time and memory saver considering that so many web sites require registration.

The 13-inch MacBook Pro is available with ($1799) or without ($1499) Touch Bar and Touch ID. The 15-inch version ($1999) is only available with Touch technology. Both models that feature Touch Bar and Touch ID have a 2.9 GHz dual-core Intel Core i5 processor, while the 13-inch version without it has a 2.0 GHz processor. All three have turbo boost.

Other highlights of the new MacBook Pro include a 67% brighter display, up to 130% faster graphics, a 17% thinner profile and a battery life of up to 10 hours. Also worth mentioning is the speaker system that offers more dynamic range, bass and volume.
