Not being able to open a file because of out-of-date software or not having the right program can be frustrating. Zamzar is a free web based service that allows you to convert virtually any file type. There are no programs to download and no credit card needed; just log onto zamzar.com and create an account. Zamzar supports 1,200 file types which include audio or video files and allows you to simply upload a file and choose what you’d like to convert it to. Aiming to convert your file in under 10 minutes, Zamzar delivers in speed and convenience.
Zamzar also lets you convert files via email. If you receive an email that contains an unreadable file, forward it to format@zamzar.com. To determine what format the file will be converted to, put the file type in place of “format”, for example PDF@zamzar.com. You can also store converted files on zamzar.com, allowing you to access them at anytime. Zamzar is free, but they put a 1000MB cap on the file size and only let you store up to 5GB worth of covered files on their site. To get more storage space or the ability to upload a larger file, you can upgrade to pro for $16 a month or the business membership for $49 a month. Both memberships let you upload bigger files, 400MB and 2GB, along with more online storage, 20GB and 100GB, plus several other handy features.
