Cranston IT Welcomes Thomas Brannen

Tom Brannen
Let’s get this out of the way first — Thomas Brannen is a lifelong Dallas Cowboys fan.

But one look at his professional and personal accomplishments and you can see why Cranston IT lured him into the heart of Steelers country.

Brannen is our newest support services technician, an authorized Apple® service provider with GSX experience, multiple Apple certifications, and a diverse background in IT challenges and solutions. He has joined Cranston IT direct from Simply Mac in Texas, where he was a service manager for the country’s second largest authorized service provider and retailer of Apple products.

Born at Dyess Air Force Base in Abilene and raised in Paducah, Brannen graduated from Texas Tech University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in advertising. Looking for a change of scenery after school, he moved to Alaska and lived northeast of Anchorage for 16 years.

How many IT professionals can claim they held the position of Multimedia Director for the Chickaloon Village Traditional Council? Brannen can. “It is an Alaskan native government created to protect and reassert the Ahtna Athabascan Tribe’s identity, cultural traditions and economic self-sufficiency,” he explained.

As you would imagine, a Multimedia Director for the Chickaloons might draw some interesting assignments — such as filming the making of a fish wheel at a fish camp. “It’s a traditional and automated fishing system with baskets on a wheel for catching salmon,” Brannen said. “But who didn’t know that?”

Brannen enjoys staying current on all Mac® news and really admires the powerful cutting-edge capability of the new Mac Pro®. The Pro category cuts across a broad segment of high-end users, he said, especially in the areas of engineering, architecture, science and software programming.

Brannen moved to New Kensington, PA earlier this year. He has three daughters ranging from 10 to 19 years old. Potential Steelers fans? We’ll see ...
