AirDrop Filesharing - Tutorial Video

AirDrop is an easy way to securely share files with other nearby Mac users. It’s Wi-Fi based, so there’s no need to change your network settings. You simply drag and drop your files to other AirDrop users.
If your Mac is running the Lion operating system you can find AirDrop on the left sidebar of any Finder window. Once opened, the AirDrop application will show you a list of other AirDrop users that are within approximately thirty feet of you. You'll see them regardless of whether they are on your own network or not since Lion can seamlessly connect to Lion users on other networks with “peer-to-peer” technology.

To share a file, you simply drag it onto the other person’s Mac icon. Your Mac will send a file sharing request to that person. The request will appear as a pop-up on their screen. Once they accept your request your file will automatically transfer to that person’s Downloads folder.

AirDrop works on any Mac running OS X Lion.
