1Password Is the Solution for Password Protection

The standard rule of thumb for creating a password requires that we use a mix of upper and lowercase letters, numbers, and punctuation marks. Preferably, it should not relate to any easily-accessible personal information like birthdates. If you really want to be extra safe, it should not include any names, either. Passwords should be a random string of letters, numbers and punctuation with no personal significance to the user. And they need to be unique for each and every site where a password is required.

Every. Single. Site.

You’re doing that, right?

Most of us use our pet’s name with a birthdate stuck on the end or something similar. And we use the same password for multiple sites because 1) it’s too difficult to remember a different password for every site, 2) we don’t keep a record of every password we create, and 3) we’re just plain old lazy.
The problem is that you’re more likely to have your account information hacked when you use the same password for multiple accounts. It only takes hackers moments to access all your account information once your password is compromised. This applies not only to the site where your account was initially compromised, but also to all other sites where you’ve used the same password. So if you use the same password for Amazon, Paypal, Dropbox, Ebay, and your online banking, a hacker could have access to all your financial information.

1Password is a simple solution for password protection and creation. It collects all your unique passwords and locks them up behind your one, unique password. What’s particularly nice about it is that it’s integrated with your browser so when you go to a site requiring log in, 1Password is ready and waiting to do it for you. Plus, it syncs automatically with every computer and device you own. And when you’re visiting a new site that requires you to create a password, 1Password will create one that is unique and follows all those best practices that prove so challenging to most of us.

Have other information you need to keep safe, such as credit card and bank account numbers? 1Password will lock all that away for you, too, where no one else can get to it. Just use your one password to access all of your secure information. 1Password keeps your digital life secure and always available, safe behind the one password only you know.  Strong AES-256 encryption protects your sensitive information at all times.

Install 1Password on as many devices as you own, whether at home or at work. For businesses, 1Password can be used to store unlimited passwords, credit cards, secure notes and more; securely share items and documents; and manage teams from a single administrative console. Cost is $3.99 per month per team member. The cost for families is $4.99 per month for a family of 5 and includes 1 GB of secure document storage.

1Password is so good at keeping passwords secure that at CranstonIT it's what we use to securely manage the hundreds of passwords that we are responsible for protecting. We highly recommend it for both personal and business use. For help with using 1Password for personal or business needs, contact us at 888-813-5558 or support@cranstonit.com.
