Exploring Apple Messages App

Text messaging has become one of the most important ways we communicate with each other. With Apple users, iMessage has quickly become just as important. When you’re using your iPhone, iPad, iPod Touch, or even your Mac, you gain access to a variety of features that make texting your friends and family quicker, easier, and more personal. When using iMessage to text another Apple user, or just sending a regular SMS, the handy features of Apple’s Messages App make it a joy!
When you use iMessage, all of your messages sent over WiFi are free. To tell if you’re iMessaging someone your text bubble will show up as blue, where if you’re sending an SMS text the bubble will be green. Texting with iMessage allows you to send messages from all your devices including your iPad and Mac. Enable read receipts in your settings to see if your messages were received and read and look for the thought bubble to tell if your fellow iMessenger is replying. You can create group messages, share your current location, send contacts, pictures, videos, and voice messages to other Apple users right from the Messages app. To set up iMessage on any of your iOS devices, go to settings, find messages, and then tap “Use your Apple ID for iMessage” and follow the prompts.

One of the new features that comes along with Yosemite is the ability to send and receive not only iMessages, but also SMS texts right on your computer. Yosemite now allows iPhone users to send any kind of text, ensuring that you’ll always stay connected, whether your phone is near by or not.

It’s a no brainer that using Messages allows you to stay connected with the people that matter most in the most intuitive ways! For more information on Messages and for all of your Apple needs, contact us at support@cranstonit.com.
